opportunities, and student training."

ABOUT  US

Nestled on the banks of two rivers in Central Vermont, Food Works at Two Rivers Center is a nonprofit, farm-based food, nutrition, and agriculture education and training center, and the region’s only nonprofit food hub, providing subsidized distribution of local food to people throughout the community.

Food Works at Two Rivers Center was founded in 1987 to address the root causes of childhood hunger by bringing hands-on food, gardening, farm and nutrition education to the Central Vermont community. Today, Food Works at Two Rivers Center has emerged as a leading nonprofit in the field of farm, food, garden and nutrition education by working to strengthen our local food systems and empower children, families and seniors to grow, prepare, eat and preserve their own foods. In 2012, Food Works celebrated 25 years of service and was honored by the Vermont House of Representatives with a joint house resolution recognizing our "pioneering role in the farm-to-school movement”.

We offer ongoing classes, workshops, summer camps, and farm-based educational opportunities, as well as a model nonprofit Food Hub that works with area farmers, including our own Two Rivers Farm, to distribute fresh, local food to businesses and institutions around region and to provide low-cost food delivery service to institutions that serve our region’s under-served and at-risk populations.

For the past 25 years, Food Works has retained its focus as a grassroots organization that develops community-based educational approaches to address the growing concerns of poor nutrition, diet, health, unsustainable land use, and declining food security.

An early pioneer in the local food movement, Food Works is excited to see our community’s interest and commitment to local food grow. We recognize that maintaining secure, local food systems that provide access for every member of the community is now more important than at any time before, and we continue our work to build and strengthen those systems and ensure that all of us have the access, knowledge, and ability to nourish ourselves, our families, and our communities now and in the future.

We hope that you will join us in our efforts!
